While there is no real cure for color blindness, there are certainly ways that you can learn to cope with this condition. Color blindness, or color vision deficiency as it's actually called, is a condition that is largely genetic, or passed down from your parents.

It's possible for a child to have color blindness while his or her parents are fine, but somewhere along the genetic line there's usually another ancestor that was colorblind as well. Being colorblind is not the end of the world, and in fact it rarely has any effect on your day-to-day life. It's incredibly easy for people with color blindness to learn to cope with their condition, and a lot of people simply never even know they have it since their symptoms are so slight.

Possibly the only known cure for color blindness at this current time is in the form of Color Blindness Lenses or colored glasses. This isn't really even a cure, per se, because it does nothing to treat the actual problem. The first mention of using colored lenses to correct Color Blindness goes back as far as the early 1800's, when a doctor from Germany discussed the possibility.

It wasn't until the 1900's though that the idea really gained momentum and we started to first see colored lenses as a cure for color blindness. These don't Protect Your Eyesight or treat the condition in any way, but they can allow you to see certain colors a little better.

The way these colored lenses work is that you would wear the lens in only one eye, and usually it's going to be the eye that isn't dominant (everybody has a dominant and a non-dominant eye). When you do this, the brain is actually receiving two different color signals, one from each eye.

It then takes that varied information to form a more complete picture of what the colors should actually look like. Another way to do it is to wear a different colored lens in each eye, but in the end you're doing the exact same thing. If you simply buy a pair of sunglasses with a tint it won't work, because you'll be getting the same colored tint in both eyes, and you'll go back to the normal way of processing vision.

There was a study that was done recently in Australia that looked at the effectiveness of wearing colored lenses to cure color blindness. In the study, they took 14 people who were diagnosed with Red Green Color Blindness , the most common type in which the person can't distinguish between red and green tints.

They were given glasses that were tinted with different colors, which included pink, yellow, orange, magenta, violet, green, and aqua. They also tested different darkness of tints, categorizing them as dark, medium, and light. In the end, it was shown that the people who wore pink lenses with the darkest possible density showed the most improvement. After that the magenta lenses showed the most effectiveness, so it looks like different hues with red in them could be the best cure for color blindness we have at this moment.
