Glasses and contacts are visual aids that don’t Improve Vision, they only correct it momentarily.

Most people believe that this sudden rise in glasses wearers is due to increased time spent at computers or in front of the TV. They can develop Eyestrain Caused by Computers.

A lot of people work with computers these days, and have Computer Vision Syndrome after long hours of staring into a screen a foot and a half in front of you which doesn't challenge the eyes in any way.

Over time, your eyes stop trying to compensate for it and slowly become weaker and weaker. It's just like any muscle – if you stop using it, it will begin to atrophy.

Because of this, our eyes need to be exercised and challenged to keep them working in tiptop shape. Don't count them out just because they're not your biceps or abs.

If you want to improve vision and Protect Your Eyesight for years to come, there are some simple Vision Exercises that you can perform to make it all happen.

Most of these can be performed in any setting, whether at home or in your office, and nobody will be able to tell that you're exercising your eyes.

  • The Figure 8 Exercise – This Eye Care Exercise will increase the flexibility of your eyes, as well as extraocular muscle strength. Open your eyes, look straight ahead, and imagine that there is a sideways figure 8 in front of you. With your eyes, not moving your head at all, trace the outline of the figure 8. Do this for one minute and then begin to trace it going the opposite direction. It may seem a little weird at first, but it strengthens your eye muscles and reduces Eye Stress, especially if you've been staring at a computer monitor for a while.
  • Blinking – This isn't exactly an Eyesight Exercise but is something that you should try and pay attention to. Statistically, people looking at a monitor, TV, or who are engaged in intense concentration only blink about a third of the time as normal. Think about when you last blinked, do you remember when it was? Probably not; blinking is an automatic function that our conscious brain doesn't control. It's the same as breathing. For the next 4 minutes, blink your eyes once every 3 seconds. Do they feel more refreshed? Less tired?

Blinking gives your eyes a split second of darkness that refreshes them, discharging the previous information that they held and allowing them to absorb new information. It also lubricates the surface; Dry Eyes get red, puffy, and sore much faster.

  • Palming – This sort of takes blinking to the next level. Take a few seconds and breathe deep, and then place both your palms over your eyes to shut out all light. Your hands should be facing your face with your fingers on your forehead. Hold it there for 5 minutes and then let go. It may not seem like much but it can prevent stress and improve your vision at the same time.

Remember nothing beats a healthy diet with the right balance of Vitamins and Minerals when it comes to preventing an Eyesight Problem.
